Happy Friday!! Did you see the weather forecast for tomorrow? We are so excited to get out and play in the mild weather! We hope you have some fun lined up — here are a few suggestions for your weekend.
This play by Anna Ziegler is running at the Central Square Theatre through Sunday afternoon, and focuses on the story of Rosalind Franklin, the British biophysicist whose DNA discovery led to the Nobel Prize — but not for her. The story has special poignancy today, as we are recognizing the pervasiveness of gender bias. See more and find tickets here!
SoWa Second Sunday
We always love to browse the artists’ studios and galleries in the SoWa neighborhood, and on the second Sunday of the month many of the artists at 450 Harrison are available to meet and chat about their work. While you are there, check out the current exhibition at Abigail Ogilvy Gallery from Katherine Mitchell DiRico, whose “tightly-wound works hover between drawing and sculpture.”
Saturday Shuttle to the Rose Art Museum
Have you been to the Rose Art Museum? It is on the campus of Brandeis University in Waltham, and is a wonderful space with excellent exhibitions. This Saturday (as well as two others this spring), the museum is running a free shuttle from Waltham center from 12-4pm. On view now is the critically-acclaimed major retrospective Howardena Pindell: What Remains To Be Seen, as well as an installation by Mark Dion and an outdoor sculpture from Chris Burden.
Down Home, Up Here
Club Passim is such a special spot for us — we used to go and listen to music here when we were in middle school and high school, and over the years have heard some wonderful artists here. This weekend, Club Passim hosts the 8th year of their Down Home, Up Here Festival. Featuring more than 21 hours of live music on Saturday and Sunday from a dozen acts, it is a celebration of bluegrass and old-time music. Check out the schedule on Club Passim’s website.
