Columbia Gas and parent company NiSource (NYSE: NI) agreed to an $80 million settlement with the three Merrimack Valley communities affected by a series of gas explosions and fires caused by over-pressurized company gas lines last fall.

At a press conference in Andover on Tuesday, representatives from Columbia Gas and NiSource apologized for the Sept. 13 gas disaster that killed 18-year-old Leonel Rondon, injured others and left many people with destroyed or partially torn-up homes or businesses.
