Boston Beer’s downtown taproom is taking longer than planned, with the company’s top executive saying the space is going to miss its expected summer opening.

The state’s largest craft brewer has been working over a year to build its first taproom at the site of the former Hillstone restaurant at 60 State Street. The space is just steps from the bronze statue of Samuel Adams behind Faneuil Hall and across from Boston City Hall.
