The Weekender: Boston Events - The Boston Day Book

Happy Friday! It’s been a cold week, and I’m sure you’re looking forward to the warmer weather this weekend as much as I am. There are lots of fun outdoor events taking place this weekend. Let’s all get out and enjoy the sunshine!

Lawn on D

Lawn on D is officially open for the season, and there’s a fun lineup this weekend. Celebrate the start of the weekend this evening with live music, drinks, and lawn games. On Saturday and Sunday there will be more live music from Felix Brown and Wolfpack, plus food and lawn games. More info here.

Home Sweet Home

Have you ever visited any of the historic homes that are part of The Trustees’ network? If you’ve ever wanted to peek inside Castle Hill on Crane Estate, Concord’s The Old Manse, or Fruitlands Museum, this Saturday you can! Eight Trustees homes across Massachusetts will be open to the public from 10am-4pm on Saturday. This only happens a few times a year! Details here.

Maker’s Market at Cider Hill Farm

I love Cider Hill Farm in Amesbury! I can’t believe how long ago this feels. The farm recently opened for the summer, and this weekend they are celebrating with a market featuring local makers. Golden Apple Market will take place from 10am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday, and will feature 20+ local artisan and vintage vendors. Be sure to snag a few of Cider Hill’s famous cider donuts while you’re there! Details here.

Drinks on the Greenway

Have you been to the Greenway lately? Laura and I were there last weekend and it’s looking beautiful! There is a new mural, and there’s plenty of greenery. You’ll probably find me there this weekend as the Trillium Beer Garden opens for the season! I am also excited to check out the City Winery outpost. Here’s a guide highlighting where else to drink outdoors this spring and summer.

New Philarmonia Orchestra

New Philharmonia Orchestra closes out their season this weekend with performances on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Newton. The orchestra will perform four different pieces created in America for American ensembles. Details and tickets here.

MayFair in Harvard Square

Enjoy free music in Harvard Square this Sunday at the 36th annual MayFair, which was originally scheduled for May 5 but postponed due to rain. Club Passim in partnership with the Harvard Square Business Association will be presenting some of Boston’s best artists. Additional details and the full line-up can be viewed here.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at [email protected]. Have a wonderful weekend!
