The Weekender: Boston Events - The Boston Day Book

Hooray, Friday! Can you believe it will be June tomorrow? We are leaving for Europe on Monday evening so it will be a busy weekend getting ready. We are also celebrating Milo’s birthday! It’s going to be a busy one for us!

What are your plans? Here are a few fun events happening around town…

Beacon Hill Art Walk

Laura has been taking art classes at the Museum of Fine Arts for a year or so, and in my humble opinion, she’s very talented! I love seeing her creativity come to life. The annual Beacon Hill Art Walk is this Sunday and Laura will be there! She will have a spot up on Primus Avenue. Come see her and say hi between noon and 6pm on Sunday afternoon. This annual event is a great way to support community artists, who are both established and up-and-coming.

Music, Magic & the Natural World

Our kids love music! This Saturday at the Hyde Park BPL branch, the Chameleon Arts Ensemble will be sharing their love of classical music with kids. The group will share how composers are often inspired by nature, and there will be an opportunity for guests to try out all the instruments. So fun! Also, it’s free and no tickets are required. Details here.

Cambridge Arts River Festival

It’s the 31st annual Cambridge Arts River Festival this Saturday in Central Square. This celebration of the arts will feature performances (both on stage and wandering throughout the festival), hands-on art making, a Mermaid promenade (so cute), and 100+ artists and food vendors. Plus, our friends, the Revels, will be there!

Powisset Farm Springfest

We love living in the city, but we do enjoy exploring outside of the city every now and again. This weekend, the 109-acre Powisset Farm in Dover is hosting a spring festival. Guests can visit the barnyard animals, play field games, create farm crafts, take pony rides, climb on farm tractors (!), have their face painted, and much more. There will also be several food vendors and drinks from Jack’s Abby Brewery. Sounds like such a pleasant way to spend a day! More details here.

Do you have an upcoming event that you’d like to see listed on The Weekender? To be considered, send us a note at [email protected]. Have a wonderful weekend!
