Teague will sign a one-year deal with Boston. Teague is either signing for the Bi-Annual Exception or for the Veteran Minimum. At this time, salary details have not yet been reported.
The Celtics had a need for a veteran ballhandler, as Kemba Walker and Marcus Smart were the lone players in that role with more than one year of experience. Boston added Payton Pritchard at the 2020 NBA Draft, and has second-year player Tremont Waters as a Two-Way restricted free agent.
Over the course of his career, Teague has averaged 12.6 points and 5.8 assists per game. He’s been a solid outside shooter at 35.8% from behind the arc and 44.5% overall. The 6’3’’ guard made the All-Star game in 2014-15 during his first stint in Atlanta.
