From Horford to Lillard, and why keeping Kemba might be the best option.
Kemba Walker is arguably the hottest topic in the Celtics-sphere right now. Debates rage constantly about his value to the team in comparison to his contract, along with the degree of difficulty the front office will have in moving on from the diminutive point guard.
The Walker debate intensified on Sunday night when CelticsBlog’s own Keith Smith decided to set his mentions on fire with a tweet that mentioned Walker and Kristaps Porzingis in the same sentence.
Kemba for Kristaps is going to be the trade that everyone hates.

Despite Porzingis’ name entering the mix, Walker has long been mooted as a potential trade candidate. With the Portland Trailblazers failing to advance in the playoffs, there’s a feeling they might decide to blow it up an enter a rebuild which has added both Damian Lillard’s and CJ McCollum’s names to the rumor mill. And we can’t forget the trusty veteran Al Horford, who Celtics fans have long pined for since he left the team two years ago.
So, what do we do with all these names and trade ideas? On today’s edition of the CelticsPod, we explore trade packages for Porzingis, Horford, Lillard, and CJ along with diving into potential salary dump locations. Of course, we have to also explore the notion of holding on to Walker for the season, or at least until the trade deadline as his contract will become increasingly less off-putting as he inches closer to the final year (should he opt in).

With the official league wide off-season still a few weeks away, the rumor mill is going to continue intensifying and bringing us new and exciting ideas for possible landing places for Walker. However, it might just be, that keeping the 4-time All-Star is the best course of action – well, for now at least.
