The longtime local ice cream chain J.P. Licks is being sued for hundreds of thousands of dollars in alleged unpaid rent.

Zooephebe Realty Trust, which owns J.P. Licks’ headquarters and flagship retail location on Centre Street in Jamaica Plain, claims the company owes more than $282,000 in unpaid rent from last year, starting in March. The company filed suit against the ice cream purveyor this week in Suffolk Superior Court.

J.P. Licks’ monthly rent at the property is about $23,000. The address…
